Polygon modelin is the most classical form of modeling where you move vertices, edges and planes around, by extruding, beveling or simply translating and rotating them into whichever shape you please. These two software have been head-to-head when it comes to 3D modeling, especially after the release of Blender 2.8. Maya is best if you are aiming to work in animation for big companies whereas Blender is perfect for startups, individuals, small and experimental studios.
